Paolini just retwitted this (along with a bunch of clips of him "duelling" other white men at the Dragonsteel con like the mature adults they are) and well, this is why I keep calling his fans a bunch of idiots.
"Eat the path" is just SOOO deep, you guys. And there are totally multiple languages and shit! You know what, I don't have the energy to go to town on it right now.

UPDATE: Even worse: it was his idea. He suggested someone do this, then MOCKED them when they did.

Well, here we are at last. The penultimate chapter. Only one more after this. This is the chapter where the author decides to tie up a few loose ends into neat little bows and basically give incredible detail as to why her "heroes" are actually villains. Because who else would keep an entire city hostage but bad guys?

It's also very, very short. Because the author wanted to drag things out, I guess.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more. This is part 3 of Paolini's July Ask-Me-Anything-But-That-Doesn't-Mean-I'll-Answer-It on Reddit.

Part 4 may or may not be posted before Christmas, that will depend on how much free time I have.

My cat keeps totally non-suspiciously eying the slice of pizza I have on my plate. She has better taste than I do, seeing as I keep coming back to this book.

Chapter 13: for a dinosaur thriller, there is little 'dinosaur' and no 'thrill' )

Now the story starts winding down, with all the loose ends being tied up in neat little bows. There's more holier-than-thou behavior from the author's darlings, Meg gets babied even more, Simon continues to act like a creep, and Meg also proves that she doesn't care about anyone outside herself and what she wants. This chapter is also comparatively shorter than the previous, mostly because the author doesn't feel like long chapters deserve to be a thing now and she needs to drag this out a little more. The annoying perspective changes are still present, though.

Short and Pointless )

Hello, friends! It's about to be December again, and you know what that means: the fact I am posting this actually before December 1 means [staff profile] karzilla reminded me about the existence of linear time again. Wait, no -- well, yes, but also -- okay, look, let me back up and start again: it's almost December, and that means it's time for our annual December holiday points bonus.

The standard explanation: For the entire month of December, all orders made in the Shop of points and paid time, either for you or as a gift for a friend, will have 10% of your completed cart total sent to you in points when you finish the transaction. For instance, if you buy an order of 12 months of paid time for $35 (350 points), you'll get 35 points when the order is complete, to use on a future purchase.

The fine print and much more behind this cut! )

Thank you, in short, for being the best possible users any social media site could possibly ever hope for. I'm probably in danger of crossing the Sappiness Line if I haven't already, but you all make everything worth it.

On behalf of Mark, Jen, Robby, and our team of awesome volunteers, and to each and every one of you, whether you've been with us on this wild ride since the beginning or just signed up last week, I'm wishing you all a very happy set of end-of-year holidays, whichever ones you celebrate, and hoping for all of you that your 2026 is full of kindness, determination, empathy, and a hell of a lot more luck than we've all had lately. Let's go.
